Endorsed by the city of Columbia and supported by South Carolina
Hispanic Outreach, the purpose of the Main Street Latin Festival is to showcase
the culture and vitality of Columbia’s Latin community. This is done
by bringing together diverse groups of people to celebrate and share the
Latin culture through its foods, arts, dances and music in a fun, family-oriented
environment.
Main Street Latin Festival 2007 began with a Block Party on Saturday
and ended on Sunday with the salsa sounds of Aldalberto Santiago. Main
Street Latin Festival 2007 brought together over 3500 people to enjoy
a weekend filled with salsa, meringue, reggaeton and grupero music, folkloric
dancers and Latin foods. The event endorsed by the City of Columbia and
supported by South Carolina Hispanic Outreach, showcased the culture and
vitality of Columbia’s Latin community.
In 2007 Main Street Latin Festival and its partners displayed its commitment
to the Latin community. Partners included City of Columbia SC Credit Union,
Kraft Foods, Acercamiento Hispano, State Farm Insurance, National Direct,
U.S. Army, Coca-Cola, Bud light, Western Union, Ritmo ,The State Newspaper,
Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Columbia Family Dentistry, Latino Newspaper
and Telemundo. Main Street Latin Festival is once again looking forward
to serving its community in 2008, we look forward to seeing you, and it
is definitely an event you don’t want to miss!
